A Team

The A Team is made up of more experienced wrestlers that wrestle a weight-only, dual-meet system which is very similar to high school and collegiate wrestling.

Each season, all CBW wrestlers will initially warm-up, train and workout as a single team. As the coaches evaluate and test the wrestlers, we will selectively approach each wrestler and their parents about competing on the A team. Competing on the A team will challenge even the most experienced wrestlers with the high level of competition that we face in the Anne Arundel County Youth Wrestling League which includes MD-DE State tournament for AA County Championship place winners.

‘A team’ weight classes and scoring

The weight classes for the 2010-2011 season were; 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95. 100, 105, 110, 115, 122, 130, 140, 150, 165, 185, 200, 250.

In the dual-meet team matches each teams’ contestant wrestles the other team’s opponent of the same weight class starting with the 50 lb weight class. Each match is scored normally. Team points are awarded based upon the score or outcome of each individual match. 6 team points are awarded for each pin or forfeit. 5 team points are awarded if the match is stopped with more than a 15 match point margin of victory for 1 contestant, a tech fall. 4 team points are awarded, major decision, for victories between 8 and 14 match point difference. 3 team points are awarded for all other victories. No team points are earned or awarded to the losing contestant.
