About Us

Five years ago, Rusty Smith founded the Chesapeake Bay Wrestling program in cooperation with Chesapeake Bay Football And Cheerleading. As founder, commissioner, and A team head coach Rusty undertook the massive effort to create a wrestling program from scratch, soliciting sponsors, recruiting children and parents, and doing it with a certain toughness, class and style. Rusty is now the head coach of Kent Island High School Wrestling program and an active supporter of the CBW family.

Tim Goodrich was CBW’s biggest supporter in the CBFC organization, helping to secure initial funding, providing organizational support and acceptance into AAYFA, as well as serve as A team assistant coach. Tim’s ability to mentor and teach young men to compete in any sport currently serves him well as the varsity defensive coordinate at KIHS Football program.

That first year, CBW sent 12 kids to the MSWA State tournament and brought home our very first State Champion-Zach Smith. Of that first year’s team, we now have 3 All-American high school wrestlers, 1 National Prep All-American, 1 Bayside Regional Champion, 1 Bayside Regional Runner-Up and many future champions.
